Il brano nasce dall’incontro tra il compositore Govanni M. Ferla e l’autore Gianni Belfiore nel periodo tra il 2006 e il 2009. L’idea era quella di creare una colonna sonora per una serie televisiva che raccontava di Sicilia e di mafia e fu subito chiaro che bisognava trattare un argomento drammatico che descrivesse sia le tragedie e le esecuzioni sommarie ma senza dimenticare che nello sfondo esiste una realtà più forte, gioiosa e spumeggiante che invece è la parte integrante della realtà del meraviglioso popolo Siciliano che con le sue tarantelle con ritmi frenetici e melodie struggenti tipiche della cultura popolare mediterranea fa esplodere il brano durante il suggestivo ritornello arrangiato con orchestra e fisarmonica (bandoneon).

Qui Giovanni M. Ferla esprime la sua appartenenza culturale alla Sicilia donando all’ascoltatore una varietà di emozioni che vanno dal dramma alla gioia accostandoli in un gioco di melodie dal tipico ed inimitabile profumo che inebria chiunque visiti questa grande isola che è il centro e il cuore stesso del mediterraneo.

La traccia 09 Long Ago è l’inizio della storia

La pubblicazione non è stata facile e fra gli altri ci sono stati problemi con il titolo cge per alcuni regolamenti interni al distributore sembra non possa contenere date o dati sensibili (forse le misure anti terrorismo arrivano persino a far cambiare il titolo ai brani in questi anni di strana guerra non dichiarata ma subita dalla gente in modo trasversale)

Il Titolo originale era “1959 the Beginning” (L’inizio) ma bando alle ciance e in realtà forse tutto parta da qui da quella estate in cui mi venne messo in  mano dal mio caro Nonno un Microfono collegato ad un Magnetofono Grundig del dopo guerra (credo fosse un modello del 1950 circa) Ho voluto includere questa registrazione per testimoniare che all’eta di 3 anni questo ragazzino chiamato Giovanni Maria Ferla aveva degli intessi particolare infatti la frase che non ho voluto cambiare è diretta è semplice:

“Dobbiamo comprare un altro nastro nuovo preciso come a questo…. perché dobbiamo registrare! “

poi suono il campanello della porta… ed era il medico… quindi mi sembra che scappai per rifuggirami in qualche nascondiglio dell’enorme Villa Cesarea in cui usavamo passare le vacanze estive.

Ringrazio la mia famiglia che mi ha permesso di esplorare tecnologie avanzate in ogni periodo della mia vita

Ringrazio mio zio Carmelo Reggiani che ha avuto cura di conservare registrazioni di quel periodo in cui lui studiava per essere ammesso al conservatorio di Salisburgo per diventare il grande pianista che è poi diventato… lo ricordo con immenso affetto!

Ringrazio mia madre che mi accompagnava al piano cantando i brani di Celentano e delle canzoni dei festival di Sanremo di quel felice periodo dove non esistevano guerre e non esistevano dubbi sul fatto di essere cristiani in un mondo libero da ogni pregiudizio razziale e a ogni bigottismo fondamentalista.

Ringrazio infine mio padre a cui devo tutto e che non smetterò mai di ricordare con affetto.

Finished recording November 18, 2015 The album features 26 tracks of composer / arranger Giovanni M. Ferla produced by himself for Fermusic Media Records which host the recording studio and the independent label founded in 2003

The album offers recordings ranging from 1959 to 2015

Among the 26 tracks there is even a very rare recording of Giovanni M. Ferla made  in 1959 (yes him was 3 years old ... only). They have recorded in a Grundig and the tape was kept by the family of the composer. in the recording it's easy to listen and you immediately notice his interest in new technologies related to the recording and audio production.

This album contains some of the most significant songs that are part of the musical history of Giovanni Maria Ferla. The idea comes from the fact that during the years between 1980 and 2015 they are accumulated lots of products some of which have remained in the drawer of the study Fermusic Media  unused for lack of time and for various reasons that will deepen inside the pages of description of the individual songs

You will find his compositions and the arrangements of the cover that cross arround many musical genres going  from pop to jazz, from rock to film music (soundtrack). Brazilian from the reinterpretation of old melodies and folk songs of Sicily and traditional Mediterranean music. In all this it stands out clearly the personality and style that ties the various tracks of different genres generating a surprisingly common thread.

The album contains live audio recordings dating from the 80s to the present day.
